• Hat/cap, shooting gloves, shoulder pad
• Shell pouch (no vest required) Bird boys will retrieve
and care for birds.
• Small field bag, light weight boots/ rigid sole
• Cool casual clothing, dark kaki, green or camo
• Snake-proof boots or chaps (Optional, highly recommended
for Quail hunts)
• Hunting stool (not required) provided by lodge.
GOOSE, DUCK, QUAIL AND MOURNING DOVE HUNTERS
Note: All items listed under, ALL PERSONS AND ALL HUNTERS should

• Two sets of clothing per day (weather may change significantly
in 24 hours. Prepare for 30º to 80º during this season)
• Chest waders or hip boots (goose hunters only)
• Waterproof knee boots (goose hunters only)
• Rain gear – small flash light
• Duck/ Goose calls and pintail whistles
• Quail hunters bring orange vest & cap, snake boots/
chaps – Required
Notice: Carry your gun permit, hunting license,
Visa, driver’s license and I.D. on your person at all times!
This is your responsibility.
WE WILL NOT GUARANTEE LICENSES FOR HUNTERS unless information we
request is in our office correct and complete, and all Hunting Fees
are PAID 30 DAYS PRIOR to your hunt!
MEXICO CHECKLIST
All gear listed are to help our customers pack gear necessary to
make their trip more enjoyable. All rules & regulations for
permits, Visas, travel, limits of game and other are SUBJECT TO
CHANGE WITHOUT NOTICE.
Relax, respect the authorities and the people of Mexico, and they
will do the same. You are a guest in their country. If you act like
one then you will be treated like one.
Do not have in your possession any type of Ammo, Illegal drugs
or any other illegal paraphernalia while traveling IN or OUT of
Mexico.

Below you will find a list of items compiled by Hacienda Santa
Fe, for use by their customers when on hunting or fishing trips
in Mexico.
This list provides our customers with the suggested gear and essential
documentations needed for the trip to Mexico.
A Mexican hunting or fishing trip can be one of the greatest tips
you will ever experience. All it takes is to follow these simple
guidelines set down.
Proof of citizen ship must be carried on your person AT ALL
TIMES! This can be:
• A Xerox copy of your birth certificated (Notarized) or
Voters Registration Card or Current Passport, and INCLUDING your
driver’s license. Name/ address must be the same on all!
• If there are children in your party, you need to have
a notarized statement on each child giving permission from both
of the parents for that child to travel to Mexico. This applies
even if they are your children. If both parents accompany the
child, then only proof of citizenship is needed.
• Airline tickets
• Camera/film
• Ice Chest (Igloo type – NOT Styrofoam, on sale at
most lodges) 1 per 2 persons
• Tip money ($1 and $5 bills)
• Sunglasses/Sunscreen/Swimsuit
• Insect spray, rain gear on all trips
• Duct tape (use on gun cases and ice chests)
• Personal medications (prescription drugs MUST be in original
bottles)
NOTE: ALL items listed under All Persons List should be added to
the list below.
• 4 to 6 Medium-heavy to heavy rods and reels. You might
bring an extra rod and reel for the guide to fish with. This is
to your advantage, since they can show you some little tricks
that will help you catch more fish!
• We recommend quality monofilament 20 lb. test (extra spools).
(Ande, Berkley, Stren, etc.)
• Rod case for rods (3” plugged PVC pipe works great)
• Tackle boxes – one large or two small. Pack reels
in suitcase or tackle box. You will be fishing 2 persons per boat
with guide – (Consolidate).
• Worms/ Lizards – Tequila, Pumpkin Pepper (regular
and with green flakes), Strawberry, Plum with Blue flake, Red
Shad, Purple with Fire tail or Whitetail, Dark Blue with Light
blue tail, Black with Chartreuse or White tail, Pumpkin with Chartreuse
tail, Watermelon.
• Slug-O –or Bass Assassin, Red Shad, Blue with Flake,
White with Flake and Green with Red Flake.
• Bullet Weights – ¼ to ¾ oz.
• Hooks – 4/0, 5/0, 6/0 (strong hooks)
• “Smithwick” Rogue or Bomber Long “A”
– 1/3 oz.- Gold with Black Back/O.B.; Chrome/Blue/O.B.
• Devil’s Horse – ½ oz.- Perch: Gold
with Black stripe/O.B.: Chrome/Blue
• “Rattle Trap” ½ & ¾ oz.-
Chrome/Blue: Tennessee Shad: Gold/Black
• Zara Spook ¾ oz.- Blue Shore Minnow; Clear and
Frog color
• Baby Torpedo 3/8 oz.- Black Shore Minnow; Clear and Frog
color.
• BAGLEY’S DB3 & DB2 – Fire Tiger/O.B.,
Chrome, Black Back & Chrome Blue Back.
• Rebel Pop-R ¼ oz. & ½ oz. Blue and Tennessee
Shad.
• Spinner baits – 3/8 to ¾ oz. •4 to
•6 Silver and Gold Willow Leaf and Double Willow Leaf, Gold
Willow, Silver Colorado Blade, Chartreuse, White skirt, White
skirts and Blue & White skirts.

Hacienda Santa Fe has proven these lures to be the most effective
baits when fishing in Mexico, but you should carry baits you have
confidence in.
NOTE: All items listed under All Persons List should be added
to the list below.
Application for your Visa, License and Gun Permit will be sent
to you. All forms, Photos and Payment in Full must be on our office
30 days prior to your Hunt Date.
Your Gun Permit, Visa and License will be issued to you on arrival.
ALL DOCUMENTS, ALONG WITH YOUR DRIVER’S LICENSE AND PROOF
OF CITIZENSHIP MUST BE ON YOUR PERSON AT ALL TIMES. THIS IS YOUR
RESPONSIBILITY!
Shells for 12 and 20 gauge are on sale at the Lodge. DO NOT BRING
SHELLS!
Clients who have registered and are bringing Personal Guns:
Please make sure the Serial Number is correct and make sure the
guns you take into Mexico are the exact guns that you registered.
You cannot substitute any other guns for those listed on your paperwork!
Failure to have the right Serial numbers could cause your guns
to be confiscated by Mexican or American authorities.
Gun cases: (Flying or Driving should be Airline Approved: Hard
Body and Lockable).
